Kirsten McIntyre was a college senior when she first came to NEWS 9 as an intern. McIntyre remembers being so excited to learn from the news team she grew up watching. After graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in telecommunications, she began working at NEWS 9 as an associate producer. A year later, McIntyre was on the move to her first reporting and anchoring job at KAUZ in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Kirsten McIntyre jumped at the chance to return home to Oklahoma to anchor at the local Fox station. Upon leaving the Fox-affiliate after six years, Kirsten McIntyre freelanced at KFOR. Her career came full circle when she rejoined the NEWS 9 family in October 2003.
Kirsten McIntyre grew up in Burns Flat and is proud of her small-town roots. McIntyre is the eldest of five and all of her siblings, except for one, now live in Oklahoma City. She readily admits her new goal in life is earning the title of "favorite aunt" among her 10 nieces and nephews. She was married on December 13, 2008 in Guthrie. Her husband and two children live in Edmond. As a family, they love to have movie nights with nachos and pizza always on the menu.
Believing in community service, Kirsten McIntyre emcees numerous events for various charities and organizations across the state. Currently, McIntyre serves on the board of directors for the Okahoma 4-H Foundation. Among her honors are alumni president for Oklahoma Baptist University, outstanding alumni 4-Her and the Jaycees' outstanding young Oklahoman. Kirsten McIntyre is also a member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond.
Kirsten McIntyre's career has had many highlights--from covering the May 3, 1999 tornadoes to interviewing Hollywood celebrities. However, the story she will never forget is when she had the honor to fly with the U.S. Thunderbirds. McIntyre said there's nothing quite like pulling 9Gs in an F-16.
When not reporting the news, Kirsten McIntyre likes to shop for treasures in junk stores, decorate her home and spend time with her family.
